Aims and vision

The Society was founded in 1952. Its aims, according to its Constitution, are:

"...to advance education by the encouragement and pursuit of all aspects of the study of algae and to publish the results of this research in a journal, and also in other publications which shall from time to time appear desirable, provided that all publications of the Society shall be available to the general public."

The Society is a Registered Charity in the United Kingdom and is run by a Council and governed by a Constitution. The Society generally holds its Annual meeting in the first week of January.
