Funding for Projects, Attendance at Courses and Meetings

Field work

The British Phycological Society has set aside funds to support student projects, students attending the Society's Annual Meeting and other meetings specifically concerned with algal biology, including non-award-bearing courses (for example at field centres) primarily concerned with algae.

Funds are not unlimited, so preference will be given to those presenting papers or posters at the Annual Meeting. For meeting applications, preference will also be given to those presenting posters or papers and to attendees at courses over those simply attending meetings.

In addition to awards for student activities, the British Phycological Society funds a competitive project awards programme to support hypothesis-driven projects that promote and further phycology, its applications and dissemination.

BPS is an active member of the Federation of European Microbiological Societies which gives BPS members access to the FEMS funding schemes.

Two BPS members were recently awarded FEMS grants.
